Dell announced the new Precision M4600 and M6600 mobile workstation notebooks, replacing the M4500 and M6500. These workstations are “specifically designed for professionals who need raw horsepower, scalable performance and application certification, deliver a desktop workstation experience without being tied to a specific location.” The new models come with sleek and professional redesign with a rigid and durable aluminum and magnesium alloy chassis and MIL-STD 810G tested for extreme temperatures, vibration, dust, altitude and shock.

The 15.6-inch M4600 and 17.3-inch M6600 both are powered by 2nd generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, up to Core i7 Extreme Edition and up to 32GB 1333MHz or 16GB 1600MHz memory. The former can be equipped with AMD FirePro M5950 or NVIDIA Quadro 1000M/2000M graphics card while the latter gets FirePro M8900 or NVIDIA Quadro 3000M/4000M graphics. The M6600 will also offer the new flagship NVIDIA Quadro 5010M mobile professional graphics with 4GB2 of GFX memory in the coming months. They have up to 750GB hard drive capacity and can be equipped with optional 2nd hard drive and 120GB SSD mini card with RAID 5 support.

Del”s M4600 and M6600 supports WiFi 802.11b/n/g, and optional Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, WiMAX connectivity. You can also gind eSATA/USB 2.0 connector, HDMI port, USB 3.0 port, DisplayPort and 10-in-1 media card reader as well as SmartCard reader, 54mm ExpressCard slot. Coming on 10 May, the M4600 starts at $1678 and the M6600 at $2158.
