[ Rumor ] Sprint is going to Announce Samsung Galaxy Note
Wednesday, January 4, 2012 17:55 No CommentsSprint may be preparing to announce the Galaxy Note during next week’s Consumer Electronics Show. So far, we’ve only heard rumors that the device will launch on AT&T with 4G LTE support. The Galaxy Note is often referred to as a cross between a tablet and a phone, and it originally launched in Europe earlier this year. It is equipped with a large 5.3-inch display with a 1280 x 800-pixel resolution, a 1.4GHz processor and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. If Sprint does launch the Galaxy Note, as SprintFeed is suggesting it will, the phone will likely come equipped with support for Sprint’s WiMAX network. BGR will be reporting live from CES 2012 next week, so stay tuned for more
Sprint, Cleawire near deal for 3 to 5 year network-sharing agreement
Monday, October 31, 2011 17:47 No CommentsSprint and Clearwire are close to inking a deal that will extend an existing network-sharing agreement an additional 3-5 years, Bloomberg Businessweek said Friday. The current agreement will terminate at the end of 2012. Allegedly, the deal is not final and could still fall through. If it is finalized, Sprint is poised to pay less for access to Clearwire’s network than it currently does. Clearwire has been seeking additional funding to help it build out a 4G LTE network, which is expected to cost $600 million, but Sprint will not provide any of the financing. “This would likely help [Clearwire] get funding, because it would provide increased visibility into revenue-getting opportunit
Sprint sues to block AT&T/T-Mobile merger on Tuesday
Tuesday, September 6, 2011 23:18 No CommentsSprint announced on Tuesday that it has filed a lawsuit with a federal court in the U.S. District of Columbia in an effort to block AT&T’s planned $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom. The suit is related to the Department of Justice’s lawsuit, which was filed on August 31st. “Sprint opposes AT&T’s proposed takeover of T-Mobile,” Sprint’s vice president of litigation Suzan Haller said. “With today’s legal action, we are continuing that advocacy on behalf of consumers and competition, and expect to contribute our expertise and resources in proving that the proposed transaction is illegal.” Sprint argued that the merger will “harm retail c

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 0:17 1 CommentSprint has confirmed that HTC’s Evo 3D smartphone and View 4G tablet will hit store shelves on June 24th. The handset, which allows users to view 3D without special glasses, carries a very reasonable $200 price tag, while the Evo View 4G tablet weighs in at a cool $400. As expected, the above-mentioned price points are contingent upon a two-year service agreement from the carrier. The Evo 3D is certainly one hotly anticipated smartphone, as it features a slew of tricked out specs, including 4G speeds, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), a 4.3-inch display, 1.2GHz (Qualcomm) Snapdragon dual-core processor and dual 5-megapixel cameras. The 7-inch Evo View tablet also boasts impressive specs,
BlackBerry PlayBook May hit Sprint on June 5th for $499
Saturday, June 4, 2011 15:40 No CommentsSprint’s public sector marketing director, Gerald Evans, recently posted a message on his personal blog noting that Sprint planned to launch the Wi-Fi version of the BlackBerry PlayBook on June 5th for $499. The post has since been pulled, so it’s unclear if the tablet will make its debut on Sunday, but we suspect it was a slip on Evans’ part and that the launch is likely to take place on that date. Sprint has also announced that it will offer a 4G WiMAX version of the tablet sometime this summer; there’s still no official word on a launch date or price for that model, however. [Via Mobile Burn]
