PayPal launches ‘PayPal Here’ for Small Business & Mobile Payment

PayPal has more than just a digital wallet system for consumers planned. As rumored, today president and CEO John Donahoe has unveiled a small dongle that can be used to accept credit card payments to compete directly with Square, called “PayPal Here.” The reader, a large blue triangle that snaps on to the top of an iPhone via the headphone jack, includes a “wing” on a hinge to “stabilize” the reader on the phone when swiping a card. Microsoft to allow Xbox Live payments via Paypal on 19th May

Next week, you’ll be able to use your Paypal account to purchase content on your Xbox 360 system. Microsoft reportedly plans to begin rolling out a new update to the Xbox 360 on May 19, and one of the biggest changes will be the addition of Paypal support directly from the console. The company began accepting Paypal payments through the Web-based Xbox Live site a while ago, but with the new update users will be able to add their Paypal account to their Xbox 360. Official PayPal App Quietly Published On Nokia’s Ovi Store

PayPal has quietly released a mobile application for Nokia devices on the Finnish mobile phone maker’s Ovi Store marketplace, a tipster points out. Indeed, while I can’t find the app from where I’m searching (Belgium),  I’ve also tracked down blog posts from eagle-eyed bloggers in France and Italy. The application is free, but apparently lacks support for displaying in landscape mode and consumes an excessive amount of RAM according to some early users. According to the blog posts linked above, the application functions much like its iPhone, Android and BlackBerry siblings: you can use it to send money, manage your account, split a check and transfer money to your bank account.

Now Pay for your Android apps with Paypal – coming soon

Android customers who don’t like being forced to use Google’s proprietary checkout system to pay for their apps may soon have a new choice thanks to a budding partnership with Paypal. Many Android owners, myself included, never bothered to sign up for a Google Checkout account until their first app purchase. It’s a cumbersome process, especially for users setting up the account directly from their phone. And that fact alone, I have no doubt, has stopped a fraction of users from buying any apps on the Android Market.
