Popular Food Delivery Service – Delivery.com launches iPhone app

Thursday, May 19, 2011 10:29 No Comments

On Wednesday Delivery.com — the popular food delivery service — launched a dedicated iPhone application. It offers a bunch of useful features, including a “nearby” feature to find restaurants that deliver nearby, automatic sync with your account, the ability to filter for cuisine, distance, or rating, and more. Users can check out using a debit card, gift card, or credit card, although we suspect that cash-on-delivery is still an option, too. The application is free in case you’re ever looking for McDonald’s delivery in NYC — yes, we’ve done that. Read

Official PayPal App Quietly Published On Nokia’s Ovi Store

Saturday, March 19, 2011 19:41 No Comments

PayPal has quietly released a mobile application for Nokia devices on the Finnish mobile phone maker’s Ovi Store marketplace, a tipster points out. Indeed, while I can’t find the app from where I’m searching (Belgium),  I’ve also tracked down blog posts from eagle-eyed bloggers in France and Italy. The application is free, but apparently lacks support for displaying in landscape mode and consumes an excessive amount of RAM according to some early users. According to the blog posts linked above, the application functions much like its iPhone, Android and BlackBerry siblings: you can use it to send money, manage your account, split a check and transfer money to your bank accoun

Hulu Plus announced for Sony TV platform

Saturday, November 6, 2010 11:15 No Comments

Hulu has become confident enough in its new premium Hulu Plus service that beginning next week, it’ll go out of beta mode and be available to the general public. Along with that, Sony Bravia TVs will receive a Hulu Plus app. Up until now, access to Hulu Plus has been restricted only to those who requested and received an “invitation” to the service. That will change next week, though, when it is an official and universally accessible extension to the free Hulu.com website. “Over the past few weeks, we’ve added several titles to the Hulu Plus service, including new fall shows like Raising Hope, No Ordinary Family, and The Event, and back seasons of hit sho

Observing Ramadan, There’s a New app for that

Wednesday, August 11, 2010 9:24 No Comments

The most ancient traditions of Islam are going high-tech, with a slew of modern offerings for those observing the holy month of Ramadan, which begins this week. Cell phone applications such as “iPray” or “iQuran” offer a beeping reminder of requisite prayer times, while the “Find Mecca” and “mosque finder” programs help the Muslim traveler in an unfamiliar city find the nearest place to pray. “When I saw these applications for the first time, I thought: this is amazing,” said James Otun, who has several Islamic applications on his Apple iPhone and iPad. “Whoever came up with this idea: God bless him or her.” T

Android app root kit steal private data from smartphones

Monday, August 2, 2010 14:53 No Comments

Spider Labs has released a root kit that could potentially allow hackers to access emails and text messages on Android-based smartphones. “It wasn’t difficult to build,” said Spider Labs chief Nicholas Percoco, who told Reuters the kit had been coded in just two weeks. “[Of course,] there are people who are much more motivated to do these things than we are. “[But] we could be doing what we want to do and there is no clue that we are there.” Percoco also claimed the root kit – which was tested on HTC’s Legend and Desire smartphones – was coded in a noble effort to “persuade” Google that it should fix the critical vulner

Firefox Home App Is Now at iTune App Store

Friday, July 16, 2010 1:58 No Comments

We’ve just learned that Firefox Home has been accepted to Apple’s App Store. This is Mozilla’s first submission to the App Store; the app was submitted 15 days ago. Fennec is Mozilla’s official mobile browser; it’s still in its early stages of testing and development. The Firefox Home app isn’t a browser itself, but it will help Apple mobile users get access to their Firefox bookmarks, browsing history and open tabs — all from within Mobile Safari. It features an “Awesome Bar” for finding your favorite websites (as determined by how frequently you visit them while browsing from your desktop or laptop computer). Firefox Home is able to accomplish all this through
