Facebook is acquiring Instagram for $1 billion, and Instagram’s team will be joining Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg announced the deal in a Facebook post: “I’m excited to share the news that we’ve agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, on the Facebook blog on the shock announcement on Easter Monday. The project has stirred up a healthy amount of intrigue within the media and among consumers, and Google’s competition has apparently taken note.
