Sony boasts 90 million PSN accounts

Tens of millions of people have taken their PS3, PSP, or Playstation Vita online. That was one of the talking points from a Sony presentation at the Game Developers Conference this week. The event, which is of course geared toward people who make games, was a chance for Sony to appeal to independent developers. Final Fantasy V now available on PSN for $9.99 right now

Back the day when we were thankful to play whatever Japanese RPGs we were given, we looked wistfully at all the huge titles that never came to the US, including Final Fantasy V. English-speaking players couldn’t officially familiarize themselves with the game until it was released on the PlayStation, but by then it looked fairly dated compared to games like Final Fantasy VIII and Parasite Eve. Verizon’s Sony Ericsson Xperia, PS Verified PLAY now available for pre-order

Sony Welcomes Back for PSN Users With Free Games & Much More

Sony has launched a “Welcome Back” customer appreciation program for disgruntled PlayStation Network and Qriocity subscribers who were registered prior to 20 April 2011 and have had to wait for their services to be restored, and it includes free games. In North America, PSN subscribers can choose two free games from a pool of PS3 titles including Dead Nation, InFamous, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD, and WipeOut HD + Fury. Sony’s CEO apologizes for security breach, will offer free month of PSN service

Sony’s president, chairman, and CEO, Howard Stringer, has issued letter of apology to PlayStation Network, Qriocity, and other Sony users who have been affected by the firm’s massive security breach. “Let me assure you that the resources of this company have been focused on investigating the entire nature and impact of the cyber-attack we’ve all experienced and on fixing it,” Stringer said. “We are absolutely dedicated to restoring full and safe service as soon as possible and rewarding you for your patience.
