Sunday, August 21, 2011 5:33 No Comments

Research In Motion is working on a music service that will tie in with BlackBerry Messenger. CNET reports that RIM will deploy a test version of its subscription-based streaming music service in the coming weeks, and that a final product will come later. BlackBerry owners will be able to share their songs with other subscribers using RIM’s BBM service, the report suggests. It’s unclear how much the BlackBerry maker plans to charge, but The Wall Street Journal said it will cost “significantly less” than similar services such as Rhapsody and Spotify, which both charge about $10 per month for premium access. RIM has already inked deals with Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group

BlackBerry Bold 9900 will not able to launch before September

Sunday, June 5, 2011 22:35 No Comments

BlackBerry fans will just have to keep waiting for the company’s latest and greatest handset. We have confirmed with multiple sources that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 won’t be launching until September globally. While an announcement at BlackBerry World was inevitable, it still hurts to see RIM struggle to get devices out the door swiftly. RIM announced that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 would be available in the “summer” from carrier’s globally when the product was unveiled at BlackBerry World. P.S. We have heard RIM might have one more major OS release in the cards, possibly BlackBerry OS 7.5, before the launch of QNX on smartphones.

BlackBerry PlayBook May hit Sprint on June 5th for $499

Saturday, June 4, 2011 15:40 No Comments

Sprint’s public sector marketing director, Gerald Evans, recently posted a message on his personal blog noting that Sprint planned to launch the Wi-Fi version of the BlackBerry PlayBook on June 5th for $499. The post has since been pulled, so it’s unclear if the tablet will make its debut on Sunday, but we suspect it was a slip on Evans’ part and that the launch is likely to take place on that date. Sprint has also announced that it will offer a 4G WiMAX version of the tablet sometime this summer; there’s still no official word on a launch date or price for that model, however. Thursday, April 14, 2011 23:53 No Comments

Nobody has been able to match the iPad thus far. But the PlayBook, the first effort from BlackBerry smartphone maker Research In Motion, has emerged as one of the strongest contenders. On the surface, the PlayBook looks similar to other iPad competitors: Its slick touch screen measures 7 inches diagonally, smaller than the iPad’s but comparable with those of others. It has front and rear cameras for snapping photos and video conferencing and a black rubberized plastic back and sides. What’s different is the software powering the PlayBook.
