Trend Micro on Wednesday named Research In Motion’s BlackBerry 7 OS as the most secure mobile operating system in a new report titled “Enterprise Readiness of Consumer Mobile Platforms.” The security firm compared four of the top mobile operating systems — Android 2.3, iOS 5, Windows Phone 7.5 and BlackBerry 7 — and found the Waterloo-based company’s platform best met the demands of enterprise users. Mark Zuckerberg announced the deal in a Facebook post: “I’m excited to share the news that we’ve agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, on the Facebook blog on the shock announcement on Easter Monday. The new glasses currently in development include an integrated transparent display that projects images and data in the wearer’s field of vision. Yahoo! to lay off 14 percent [2000] of workforce

In the deepest cuts for years at Yahoo! 2,000 people, 14 per cent of the workforce, have been removed from their employment. The new exec wants a smaller and more agile company and to cut the overheads, this round of staff cuts is estimated to save the company $375 million per year. Thompson is also planning to reshuffle certain Yahoo divisions and possibly sell off its ad-placement service as the company refocuses on its core business.
