Lenovo ThinkPad Edge S430 Notebook with Thunderbolt

Along with the new ThinkPad X1 Hybrid and T430u, Lenovo also expands the ThinkPad Edge line with the new Edge S430 premium notebook for professionals. [ Rumor ] Sprint is going to Announce Samsung Galaxy Note

Sprint may be preparing to announce the Galaxy Note during next week’s Consumer Electronics Show. So far, we’ve only heard rumors that the device will launch on AT&T with 4G LTE support. The Galaxy Note is often referred to as a cross between a tablet and a phone, and it originally launched in Europe earlier this year. It is equipped with a large 5.3-inch display with a 1280 x 800-pixel resolution, a 1.4GHz processor and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. If Sprint does launch the Galaxy Note, as SprintFeed is suggesting it will, the phone will likely come equipped with support for Sprint’s WiMAX network. China to Launch GPS Alternative With Own Beidou navigation system

China on Tuesday began offering its own satellite navigation system to users, as an effort to move away from the nation’s reliance on the U.S.-built NAVSTAR GPS network. Beidou now offered location, timing and navigation data to China and surrounding areasannounced the project’s spokesman Ran Cheng. China has been working on the system since 2000 to provide an alternative to the US government-run Global Positioning System (GPS). AT&T Introduce LG Nitro HD Android Phone with 720p HD Display and LTE 4G

AT&T launches its third 4G LTE smartphone, the LG Nitro HD which is the carrier’s first smartphone to have  a true HD screen. The new Nitro HD comes with a 4.5-inch True HD AH-IPS (Advanced High-Performance In-Plane Switching) touchscreen with 1280×720 HD resolution (ie.329ppi) and 500 nit brightness. Crashing Google Wave Finds New Life in Open Source “Wave in a Box”

Google recently announced it will shut down Google Wave, the company’s web app for real-time collaboration, in April 2012. Google had previously all but abandoned Wave, ceasing new development over a year ago, but soon all traces of Wave will be removed from the web. Wave will become read-only in January 2012, meaning users will no longer be able to create new waves. After that Google Wave users have until April 30 to export their content before the service shuts down completely. Justin Bieber took Bing’s search king crown on Monday after the company revealed the top searches of 2011. Bieber fever appears to have swept across a number of Bing users as the 17-year old Canadian pop singer topped the charts for most-searched person of the year. Facebook is testing a new Messenger desktop client for Windows 7, according to reports.

The new desktop software will offer Windows 7 Facebook users access to Chat, the ticker feed and notifications. The standalone application is targeted towards users of Facebook’s chat service. Amazon quietly acquires Yap “specializes in voice-to-text technology” in clear bid to combat Siri

Amazon recently quietly purchased Yap, a Charlotte-based company that specializes in voice-to-text technology. CLTBlog, a Charlotte-focused website, discovered a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that doesn’t actually name Amazon as the purchaser of Yap, but it does attribute the acquisition to a company called “Dion Acquisition Sub,” and the “Surviving Corporation” listed by the SEC has the same address as an Amazon.com office located on 410 Terry Avenue in Seattle, Washington.
