Angry Birds trip to space tops 50 million downloads

Rovio on Monday announced that the company’s latest Angry Birds installment, Angry Birds Space, has been downloaded a whopping 50 million times in 35 days, making it the fastest growing mobile game of all time. The company also teased that “something even bigger is on its way” and gamers should stay tuned. Angry Birds Space was released on March 22nd for iOS and Android devices, as well as OS X and Windows PCs. The fourth major Birds release delivered new and unique gameplay features alongside new and existing characters. Max Payne hits iOS on April 12, Android on April 26

Rockstar legend Max Payne is gearing to bring a bit of noir carnage to a smartphone near you. Max Payne Mobile is set to launch on iOS later this week, April 12 to be exact, while an Android version should be ready by April 26. All iOS devices back to the iPhone 3GS are supported, including all iPad generations. However, it is still unclear what to expect on the Android front. If the iOS version is anything to go by, the game should run on somewhat older devices. No word on price yet, and this is what the iOS version should look like.

PayPal launches ‘PayPal Here’ for Small Business & Mobile Payment

PayPal has more than just a digital wallet system for consumers planned. As rumored, today president and CEO John Donahoe has unveiled a small dongle that can be used to accept credit card payments to compete directly with Square, called “PayPal Here.” The reader, a large blue triangle that snaps on to the top of an iPhone via the headphone jack, includes a “wing” on a hinge to “stabilize” the reader on the phone when swiping a card. The new service is supported by a free app and fully encrypted thumb-sized card reader for iPhone and soon Android. Report – Apple may launch cheaper iPad 3 this year.

Apple has inked deals with numerous additional parts suppliers for its upcoming iPad refresh according to a new report from DigiTimes, further supporting the notion that the tech giant plans to unveil a new version of its market-leading tablet later this year. Citing industry sources, the report claims Taiwan-based component manufacturers including Novatek Microelectronics, Richtek Technology, Capella Microsystems and Integrated Memory Logic have been awarded contracts to supply integrated circuits for the iPad 3.
