China to Launch GPS Alternative With Own Beidou navigation system

China on Tuesday began offering its own satellite navigation system to users, as an effort to move away from the nation’s reliance on the U.S.-built NAVSTAR GPS network. Beidou now offered location, timing and navigation data to China and surrounding areasannounced the project’s spokesman Ran Cheng. China has been working on the system since 2000 to provide an alternative to the US government-run Global Positioning System (GPS). AT&T Introduce LG Nitro HD Android Phone with 720p HD Display and LTE 4G

AT&T launches its third 4G LTE smartphone, the LG Nitro HD which is the carrier’s first smartphone to have  a true HD screen. The new Nitro HD comes with a 4.5-inch True HD AH-IPS (Advanced High-Performance In-Plane Switching) touchscreen with 1280×720 HD resolution (ie.329ppi) and 500 nit brightness. It supports AT&T’s LTE 4G high-speed data network. The Nitro HD boasts a 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 dual-core processor and runs Android 2.3.5. Chrome 15 Becomes World’s Most Popular Browser

Google’s Chrome 15 browser is now the most popular browser build in the world. New data from StatCounter suggests that Chrome 15 recently reached a total global market share of 23.6% compared to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 market share of 23.5%. Internet Explorer still has the largest global market share if you combine all versions of the browser, however. Microsoft launches New social network for students

Microsoft officially took the wraps off of its new social network for students on Thursday. The service is called and was developed by Microsoft Research’s FUSE Labs division.
