Internet Explorer 10 platform preview 2 now available to download

Microsoft made a second Internet Explorer 10 platform preview available to developers on Wednesday. The software giant is improving its HTML5 support with Internet Explorer 10. “Developers will be able to build even more amazing sites and applications with IE10’s improved HTML5 support,” said Microsoft’s Dean Hachamovitch. “As different browsers support developers using the same markup to achieve the same results with great performance, we can all realize the promise of HTML5 applications.” Microsoft has posted over 270 new tests to the Internet Explorer test center and submitted them to the standards bodies. Microsoft launches Cloud based Office 365 worldwide on Tuesday

Microsoft took the wraps off its cloud based productivity suite on Tuesday. The software giant held a number of media events around the world to announce the general availability of Office 365, the company’s latest cloud service. Office 365 is now available in 40 countries and unites Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Exchange Online and Lync Online. Microsoft introduced the original beta of Office 365 last year. Microsoft unveils new Bing Maps with high resolution imagery

Microsoft’s Bing Maps team updated its World Tour Application on Monday. The updates now includes over 150 locations that Bing Maps features high-resolution aerial imagery. The imagery is being captured and published as part of Bing Maps’ Global Ortho imagery program. Microsoft Hotmail updated to include Outlook-like features

Microsoft detailed its new Hotmail features on Thursday. The company has been updating Hotmail over the past week to include a number of new features. Hotmail users will now notice a new right-click menu that allows them to reply, reply all, or forward messages. The feature expands on other right-click options that Hotmail already supports such as Mark as unread, Delete, Junk, Move and View message source. “Just like in Outlook, it’s even quicker to take care some of your most common tasks using that second button on your mouse,” says Microsoft’s Dick Craddock. Mozilla launches Firefox 5 with ‘Great more Features’

Mozilla on Tuesday finally issued the new public release version of its wildly popular Web browser, Firefox. Version 5 of Firefox wasn’t met with quite the same fanfare as Firefox 4, but the update is a major one nonetheless. Mozilla bills its new browser as being faster than ever with “even more awesomeness,” and we can’t say we disagree. Firefox 5 has received massive improvements aimed at providing speedier performance, and the UI has been redesigned and improved as well.
